THE route taken by 300 Jewish children through Cumbria fleeing Nazi persecution will be the subject of a documentary.
The film, entitled Route to Paradise, uses the narrative of some of the survivors' stories after they escaped the Nazis to take refuge at the Calgarth Estate in Windermere.
The Paradise Route was a journey taken by the children from Carlisle to South Lakes town,
The documentary, which has been commissioned by the Lake District Holocaust Project, is being made by filmmaker Thomas Gardner.
He recently returned from filming parts of the documentary at Auschwitz, where he also took photos for an exhibition now showing at Windermere library.
Filming is set to finish at the end of the next month. It will play UK film festivals later this year.
Mr Gardner said it was a story 'close to my heart' and he was excited to revisit it having left Windermere.
