THE restoration work for a town’s World War I memorial is finally due to end in two weeks time.
Work started on the war memorial on Station Road, Millom, at the start of 2019.
However, the restoration work ran over schedule due to multiple delays.
Mayor of Millom Angela Dixon said: “It ‘s such an important part of the community.
“It’s the first thing you see as you enter the town and the restorations will bring pride back into Millom.”
The memorial, which is protected and listed on the National Heritage List for England, was highlighted as "in need of urgent renovation and maintenance" work last year.
The mayor shared her and the townspeople’s frustration regarding the delays on the town centrepiece, which has caused the restoration to take just over four months.
Workers needed to completely restore the electrics, which had not been replaced since the 1960s.
