A YOUTH club held a mini beast event to help raise funds for a boxing club fighting for survival.
On Friday Furness Multicultural Youth Club (FMYC) joined up with Little Beasties Ulverston for a very special animal encounter to help raise funds for Furness Catholic Amateur Boxing Club.
At the event children were given the opportunity to handle and learn about a whole range of animals, from snakes, tarantulas, rabbits and other reptiles.
There were also coffee and cakes on offer for people to buy, which the children from the club also made.
All of this was to raise as much money as they could for Furness Catholic Amateur Boxing Club who are currently striving to raise £75,000 they need to save the club after their building was put on the market.
Jane Wilkes, senior youth worker from FMYC said: "We regularly do a lot of events to support local clubs and the children really enjoyed this one. They even created the poster to advertise the event."
Paul Ryan from the boxing club said: "It means a great deal to have the support of the multicultural club.
"It shows the diverse range of people in the community all coming together and uniting for a common goal, which in this case is the future of our boxing club in the town centre.
"Our ‘open door’ policy allows everybody to attend which is cemented by the fact that community groups such as the multicultural centre offer to help in this way."
The boxing club has so far raised over £6,000 with more fundraising events on the horizon.
