SCENES for ‘Peter Rabbit 2’ will be filmed on Compston Road, probably on April 7, Lakes Parish Council were told at the full council meeting.
The CGI live-action comedy-drama, based on Beatrix Potter’s stories about Peter, is a sequel to the first ‘Peter Rabbit’ which was Sony Pictures’ biggest-ever non-James Bond film in the UK.
The film, starring James Corden as Peter, grossed more than 55 million dollars. The production team’s request to film over several days at Easter was refused by the Highways Agency but they accepted April 7 as a compromise, and said it was impossible not to film during the school holiday period because the film crew was coming over from Australia.
Filming will take place between 7am and 11am, and the film crew has also requested use of the on-street parking spaces opposite the Toy Shop and further down Compston Road from Saturday evening (April 6).
Lakes Parish Council will meet with the Highways Agency and the location manager to discuss arrangements and begin consultation. ‘Peter Rabbit 2’ will have its UK release in March 2020.
