FIRE-FIGHTERS were equine heroes when they rescued a horse which had become stuck in a muddy bog.
Crews, plus a mountain rescue team, were called to Ravenstonedale shortly after 5pm on Saturday after reports that horse was stuck in deep mud.
Working alongside a vet, the crews from Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale dug out the horse in an operation that lasted around two hours.
