THE wet and windy weather certainly signalled that it is January but nearly 500 people took part in parkruns across south Cumbria on Saturday.
Barrow parkrun saw192 people conquer the slightly undulating 5km course on a bitterly cold morning.
Luca Messenger Jones recorded a new personal best time of 18:26 as he was the first person to finish the parkrun.
Ulverston Triathlon Club member Daniel Burns came second in 19:29, followed by Cameron Bell in third.
Karen Oldham, Leven Valley Athletics Club runner, was the first woman to finish in 22:35.
And a milestone of 200 parkruns was reached by Walney Wind Cheetah Ruth Haughian.
Ford Park held its 23rd parkrun event on the weekend.
The cold and dull weather with a strong breeze did not stop 106 runners taking part - the highest attendance for several months.
Jessica Bailey finished 1st in a time of 19:39 - the highest age grade of 82.87% and new Personal Best.
Furness Fell runner Ronnie Haddow took second place in 20:43 - his 15th parkrun to date.
First-timer Paul Bowes marked his parkrun debut in fine style,finishing third in 20:48.
Fell Foot's 207th parkrun saw 168 runners, joggers and walkers turn out and battle the cold.
Owen Mitchell, a first-timer to Fell Foot and a member of Rochdale Triathlon Club, finished first in 18:12.
An unknown finisher came second followed by another first-timer Sam Lashley in third with a time of 19:31.
Kim Baxter, who runs for South Yorkshire Orienteers was the first woman to finish in 20:59.
David Lynn completed his 50th parkrun to date as he finished 53rd overall.
A respectable 35 runners came to take part in Millom's 110th parkrun.
In his 116th parkrun to date, Black Combe Runner John Millen finished first in a time of 22:47 - over a minute ahead of the next runner.
John Rodgers came second in a time of 23:52, followed by Dave Bridges in third.
Rachel Read, who runs for Blengdale Runners AC, was the first woman to finish at Millom with a time of 30:32.
First-timer Kirsty Brown was second, closely followed by Lesley Grieve.
Organisers from each parkrun in south Cumbria have thanked every volunteer who turned up on Saturday to support the 5km event.
