THIS week we asked readers to tell us which are the best nurseries and pre-schools in Barrow. And the number of responses was overwhelming...

1. Happy Tots, Abbey Road

You can't get a better endorsement than Shola Goligy's: " I went myself since below the age of one and left in my teens, absolutely loved it. All the staff are so friendly and helpful and really helped me into the person I am today."

2. Hollingarth, Prospect Road

Jen Dockerty "couldn't praise Hollingarth enough" for the support they had given her with her daughter: "Considering she is on consultant-led care at FGH Hollingarth have been a part of it all."

3. Barrow Day Nursery, FGH

Rebecca Sheppard described it as "fantastic" and added: "I'm going to be so sad when my youngest leaves, they are so supportive when you are trying to implement things e.g. potty training." Rosie Hawkins' son has special needs and said: "I would not put him anywhere else, they have been so fantastic giving him all the support he needs."

4. Old Vicarage, Hartington Street

Danielle Largue wrote: "They do flexible days for parents doing different shifts each week. From day one I knew my little girl would develop well and was in safe hands."

5. Roose Nursery, North Row

"By far one of the best there is; kind and caring staff that make time to form bonds with every child," said mum Leanne Richardson. Catherine Blanshard added: "My little boy loves going into Roose each morning."

6. Cheeky Monkeys, Abbots Vale

Kelly Lamond's twins "and they love it". She added: "It’s like one big happy family. " Steph O'Brien said: "My two-year-old tries to break the door down if they don’t let us in quick enough."

7. Ramsden Robins, Thwaite Street

Alison Shields said: "The staff are incredible and do so much with the children. My daughter loves going and it has given her so much confidence and enjoyment in learning."

Sarah Platt added: "My oldest son went there and loved it."

8. Hindpool, Bath Street

Barbaba Galvan, whose four grandchildren attended, said Hindpool was the best "without a doubt".

Danielle Watson added: "Always supportive of both parents and children which really does go a long way during your child's early education."

9. Lynwood, Newbarns

Helen Dixon was one of many mums who nominated Lynwood.

She said: "Never had any issues and always have one happy little boy coming home, even if sometimes it is in flower & glitter!"

10. Walney Central, Central Drive

Mel Robinson said: "The staff are all lovely and so welcoming. My little boy enjoys going to nursery and loves all the staff.

"Couldn’t have a better bunch of people to look after your children."
