POLICE have found an empty medical bag stolen from the back of an ambulance while paramedics fought to save a patient's life.
The North West Ambulance Service posted details of the incident on Twitter at 10.55am yesterday. The post said: "Our crew was performing CPR on a patient suffering from cardiac arrest in Workington and someone stole their response bag. We have no words."
Police have since released a description of the thief. Heis described as about 5ft 8ins tall, of skinny build, with a shaven head and wearing a grey hooded top and jogging bottoms.
The bag was recovered in Vulcan's Park, Workington, this morning, but some aspirin and GTN tablets had been taken from the bag. GTN tablets can be fatal if taken incorrectly and we would appeal to anyone who finds the medication to hand it to police or a pharmacy. The missing response bag did not affect the treatment of the patient.
