TONIGHT scenes filmed in Barrow will feature in BBC One's hit TV crime drama, Strike.

The Strike series returns at 9pm with Career of Evil, the TV adaptation of J.K Rowling's third book about private detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott. The superstar author published the Strike novels under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.

The Cuckoo’s Calling and The Silkworm were broadcast last year, and introduced TV audiences to Strike and Robin, played by Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger.

Career of Evil is a two-parter, in the first episode a dismembered leg sent to Strike's office sends both his and Robin's lives into disarray, forcing them to confront spectres from their pasts.

The characters leave London to investigate in Scotland and Barrow, in Cumbria.

Filming took place in Barrow in January last year with Burke and Holliday filming scenes on Barrow Island streets and at The Crow's Nest pub.

In the Career Of Evil novel, the characters pass Barrow’s Craven Park rugby ground and there are references to the Crow’s Nest, the Olympic takeaway, Barrow Grammar School for Boys and BAE Systems. They also eat in The Last Resort cafe, in Cavendish Street.

Ken and Jean Crosby, of Ulverston, spotted J.K Rowling in Barrow town centre back in 2014. The Harry Potter author came to Barrow for research, visiting The Last Resort cafe and going to The Crow's Nest.

In the past J.K. Rowling has tweeted about enjoying her visit to Barrow, and in a recent BBC interview with the BBC she described Barrow as "the most extraordinary place," saying it was "a very distinctive, unique, urban, working city".

The second episode of Career of Evil will be broadcast next Sunday at 9pm.
