A UNION which supports workers across a range of industries including retail and manufacturing has pledged its support to helping fathers secure better rights for their families.
The Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers trade union (USDAW) set up stall in Tesco Extra in Barrow to reach out to fathers who feel they are being unfairly treated.
Manned by representative Liz Burton, the stall was packed full of information and leaflets on paternity rights for new fathers.
Ms Burton said: "I was there to help support a better deal for dad's, that is, improved rights, better pay and more family time together to support mother and child."
The union rep was asking for help in completing questionnaires which will help USDAW build a national picture of the pressures that working dads and partners of new mothers are under.
They are currently campaigning for better rights, including longer and better paid paternity leave.
The event was organised by Tesco community champion, Nathaniel Welham.
