The changing face of Barrow and the shipyard has been captured in a series of stunning aerial images.
Taken from a Cessna light aircraft by BAE Systems photographer Michael Vallance the aerial photographs also show the Furness coastline and Walney in all its glory.
The ongoing redevelopment of the shipyard has changed the Barrow skyline.
The Devonshire Dock Hall is a familiar sight, but now it’s been joined by the Central Yard Facility (CYF), which was recently opened by Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson, and the Resolution warehouse building.
The images also capture other new buildings, including a new training academy on the other side of the dock opposite Morrison's and a facility to paint submarine units, though these have yet to be opened, along with a huge warehouse down at the docks.
The CYF is a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, where certain phases of construction for the Dreadnought class will take place.
Dreadnought is the replacement for the Vanguard submarines, which carry the UK's independent nuclear deterrent. The CYF includes production, workshop and office facilities and measures 180m long, 90m wide and 44m high.
As well as the physical footprint BAE Systems has in the town, it now employs more than 8,700 people, including 1,000 on its early careers programme.
In 2017 BAE Systems spent around £700m with 700 suppliers, including many local businesses.
