RUMOURS have been circulating that a Nando’s restaurant is to open in Barrow.

One fan of the food chain said he was told during a visit to the Carlisle branch that the company had earmarked a location in the town to open a restaurant.

The Nando's fan, who did not want to be named, said: "I was at Carlisle Nando’s last night and their manager told us that they have been looking for a location for the last three or four months in Barrow, and that they have secured one and a Nando’s will be opening sooner rather than later."

But bosses of the Portuguese chicken chain said this was not true.

"I have checked with our property team and there are no plans at present to open a restaurant in Barrow," a spokesman said.
