Dearest Grandma, we all would’ve loved to have been there to say goodbye to you and support our dear Grandad and surround him with love. It fills us with sorrow to not be there, but we take comfort from the fact that everyone knows why.

Instead we will honour your memory in our own special way Grandma. I will always remember you crying when I came down the stairs in my wedding dress and how proud you were of all of us.

As you were a practicing Christian I add a few wise words from Proverbs 11:17
“a man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself”

Sleep well Grandma.
Your loving granddaughter Lucy xxx

As the youngest of the family I would like to pay tribute to my mum. Although I accompanied my husband for a job opportunity it was a privilege Mum that you spent so much time with us in Australia. We enjoyed the many weeks you spent with or girls Kate and Alice and our pooches and cat. I helped care for you in 2022 and had I lived closer I would of been there for you and I visited 2024 when dad was in hospital and visited you in the Nursing Home. Both Kate and Alice were saddened to hear of your passing.

Education and careers meant that we were not on the doorstep. However, we are pleased that we were with you during your last days and that you were happy to see us. Ian (son in law)

Mum, our family wanted to be at your funeral; it is of some comfort that the reason we were not there is known to everyone.
No matter, we will hold a memorial with love, the whole family reminiscing on our childhood in Hornchurch; the many Christmases you spent with us, the holidays we took you on with our children to Cornwall, Ibiza, & Italy, and we’ll recall your many trips to see your younger daughter & grandchildren in Australia. These will all be remembered. We are your family:
Denise, Ian, Rachel, George, Lucy, Tim, Raffy, Beau & Jack, Emily & Edward

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Rest easy Grandma, we’ll say our goodbyes with peace in our hearts and we’ll be there in spirit xxx
