DIXON, Russell Stephen On 15th July aged 72 years, peacefully in Manchester Royal Infirmary, surrounded by his loving family. Dear brother of Keith, brother-in-law of Maureen, uncle of Carolyn her husband Andrew and Suzanne, great-uncle to Libbie, Oliver, Lucie and Georgia, also life long dear friend to Martin and very good friend to many. Funeral service to take place at Thorncliffe Crematorium, Barrow in Furness on Friday 28th July at 2.30 p.m. Family flowers only please. Donations if so desired to Manchester Royal Infirmary. Walney Juniors "Love from Judy" 1970 Russell's last role before heading off to Drama School
Followed his career (many roles with Alan Ackbourns company , Coronation St etc) I last spoke to him when he was appearing in the West End having taken over the lead in a play from indisposed Colin Blakely. Nice man and great talent

Went all through Vickerstown school from reception to top class. Always remember when in the top class I was chosen to play Angel Gabriel in the school Christmas play which was always held in St Mary's Church Walney. Russell was not amused he wanted that part! Obviously went on to better parts. Rest in Peace.
