GRAY Joan Mary It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Mary Gray (née Lilley) announces her passing on 8th April 2023 ('frailty of old age') at 96. Joan died peacefully at Lapstone House care home. She will be lovingly remembered by her five children, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren in addition to her extended family, friends and the many whose lives she touched. Well known in the local community as a teacher in several schools in the Millom area and a volunteer within many local charitable organisations, Joan was a compassionate and dedicated trail blazer (childcare), stoic, understated and hugely resilient. Her funeral will take place at Thorncliffe Crematorium, 15 Devonshire Rd, Barrow-in-Furness LA14 5PD at 13:45 on Friday 19th May. This will be followed by her wake commencing 17:00, to celebrate her life at The Hill village hall, LA18 5HF. ALL are welcome to attend either or both events.
