Worked at the Victoria Park Hotel from the age of 12 ( Told them I was 15 )
I worked after school ( If I Went ) and at weekends .
Cyril Thornborough was a very very No Nonsense hard task Master and Mrs Thornborough ( I never Knew her Name was Marie and I was there two years )
was a very nice and kind person and mother. I used to sleep in the laundry with my mate Ronnie Leath and sneak a few bears in . Mrs Thornber when was I leaving to join the big bad world said that shew knew all along but never let on to Cyril. I learned a lo t from Cyril , Which helped me in my later life but I will never forget how lovely and Kind Mrs Thornber was to me especially when Cyril was on one of his rants. God Bless you Mrs Thornber .
