I only heard today about this very sad news. Miss Wilson was my favourite teacher and I loved the year she taught me in Year 5. Sadly that year her father passed but happily she also married and we held a surprise guard of honour for her (despite her being late as the Bridge was up). Whenever I met her, she always remembered me. When I started my teaching career she would pop into my class if visiting our school. I was so touched that she attended my wedding evening reception. A very inspirational, fun-loving and caring teacher and a genuinely caring woman. Thank you and rest in peace.

So many happy memories of Gina, from our early teaching days at Broughton Road, to our escapades on the tennis and badminton courts. Such a compassionate, caring, dedicated and steadfastly loyal person. So many young lives will have been positively influenced by her during her teaching career. Had a lovely visit with Gina last time we were visiting Barrow from here in Australia, lots of old memories revisited and new ones made. She will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. Our deepest condolences to Kevin xxx Mary & Ken Jarvis

Many children in the Furness area, in particular Sir John Barrow School in Ulverston (where she was the head teacher), will have had their lives positively influenced by Gina. She was a truly lovely person with a twinkle in her eye. Not many would be a head teacher by day and the back end of a pantomime horse by evening (as part of an amateur dramatics group performance)! She was always professional, kind, knowledgeable and a joy to meet. The world is a much poorer place without her. Kev, please accept our heartfelt condolences. Mary & Ian

The lovely Gina supported me with humour and kindness during my time as Acting Headteacher at South Walney Infant and Nursery School - a great school that her Mum Audrey had also led of course. She was knowledgeable and professional and funny! I remember her making me laugh when she told me about turning up for work and struggling to walk from her car only to discover that she was wearing mismatched shoes with different heel heights! I shall always remember her with affection. Please accept my sincere condolences. Xx
