THERE has been no let up for Ulverston Tri Club members as the swim-cycle-run season draws to a close.
The versatile Rennell Brennan took the women's V40 prize at the tough Buttermere Triathlon – which consisted of a 1.5km swim in one of the Lake District's most beautiful locations, followed by an undulating 44km bike ride and a 13km trail run.
Brennan finished 68th overall in a time of 3:41:42, with her UTC club-mate Alex Fairer also in the prizes as she finished as third female home and 51st overall in a great time of 3:37:52.
Also performing well for the Ulverston club were John Evason (40th in 3:33:24) and standard distance first-timer Kristina Jackson (69th in 3:42:06).
There were some excellent performances in UTC's second club triathlon of the year.
Fiona Mashiter completed a season double in the women's short course race, following up her victory in June over the same distance – a 250m swim, 16km coast road bike ride to Aldingham and back, and a 4km run. Mashiter knocked four seconds off the time she achieved in June to win her section in 59:17.
Great Britain masters runner Bob Atkinson showed that age is no barrier by taking the men's long course race ahead of former club head coach Paul Rodger. The long course race consisted of a 600m swim, 36km cycle ride to Roose roundabout and back, and then an 8km run.
Despite being in his late 50s, Atkinson flew round in 1:47:33, ahead of runner-up Rodger (1:49:13) and third-placed Ben Park (1:50:39) in what was a very well-attended event for the club.
