BARROW AFC have quickly made up for the disappointment of missing out on re-signing Andy Cook by adding three players to next season’s squad.
Alfreton Town attacker Lindon Meikle, who played under AFC boss Paul Cox at Mansfield, is the only new face among the trio, with Andy Parry and Alex-Ray Harvey penning new deals to keep them at Holker Street.
All three have signed one-year contracts, with options for a second year based on appearances.
The deals come only days after Cook chose to join National League rivals Tranmere Rovers and are sure to be a boost for Cox as he builds his squad for the 2016/17 campaign.
Meikle started last season with York City in League Two, before moving to Macclesfield Town and then on to Alfreton in January. Cox first tried to sign him for the Bluebirds then, but transfer issue windows prevented the move going through.
However, the 28-year-old England C international, who made 113 league appearances for Mansfield, scoring 12 goals between 2011 and 2014, had a release clause in his Town contract which allowed him to move to a higher-league club.
Parry joined Barrow from Luton Town in January, initially on loan before being released by the league Two side and signing a deal in South Cumbria until the end of the season.
Harvey, meanwhile, produced some impressive displays in an AFC short towards the end of the season to earn the offer of a new contract.
The trio join Ross Hannah, Richie Bennett and Moussa Diarra in signing deals for AFC for next season, with Joel Dixon, Danny Livesey, Andy Haworth, Jordan Williams, Ashley Grimes, David Mellor and Neil Ashton already under contract. Of those seven player with deals carried over from last summer, it is unclear if all will still be with the Bluebirds when pre-season starts.
