BARROW inshore lifeboat was launched today to assist a woman taken ill on Walney seafront.
HM Coastguard requested RNLI Barrow Station to launch the inshore lifeboat this afternoon to rescue of a woman who became ill at Earnse Bay, Walney.
The 42-year-old woman was on the rocks of the sea defences near to West Shore Caravan Park.
An ambulance had been called but the crew were unable to get the ambulance near to her. Coastguard shore patrols assessed the easiest and safest way to move her was for the RNLI to move her by sea to the waiting vehicle.
The ‘Vision of Tamworth was launched just after 2pm.
The ambulance crew and coastguard noticed a deterioration in the condition of the woman and made a successful attempt to carry her to the ambulance by stretcher.
