A FURNESS company has been recognised for its care of the environment after being shortlisted for a regional award.
Wax Lyrical, based at Lindal, is in the running for the Green Innovation award at this year's Insider's Made in North West Awards.
The company has been named as a finalist because of its ongoing efforts to minimise waste and pollution by installing an on-site wind turbine and reducing its carbon footprint by sourcing materials locally.
Waste reduction and re-cycling is an integral part of Wax Lyrical’s manufacturing process and the company’s landlord has recently received approval to develop a 250kw solar array which will, when built, significantly reduce their reliance on the National Grid.
Speaking about being shortlisted, managing director of Wax Lyrical, Joanne Barber said, “We are delighted to see our green credentials recognised through these awards and are eagerly awaiting the awards event later this year.”
Winners of the awards will be announced on May 5.
