THE A590 has reopened following a vehicle fire near the roundabout for Dalton.
Emergency services were called to Elliscales roundabout at around 2.05pm after receiving reports of a Ford saloon car on fire.
Traffic travelling towards Barrow was diverted away from the A590 and through Dalton, causing long queues and delays for motorists.
Firefighters from Ulverston were called to deal with the incident and used two hose reel jets and one breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.
Neither the driver or passenger sustained any injuries and both were out of the car when emergency teams arrived.
It is unclear what caused the fire to start.
Barrow Police tweeted that the road was opened again at 3.20pm.
