A FEMALE pedestrian has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a car in Barrow.
Four police vehicles were called to Bridgegate Avenue this evening after reports of a collision involving a red Kia Rio.
It is believed the pedestrian, a teenage girl, hit the windscreen of the car and she has been taken to Furness General Hospital.
It was initially thought the girl had sustained serious injuries, however a police spokesman later confirmed the incident to be a minor injury road traffic collision.
The Kia Rio was being driven by a 21-year-old man.
The road was temporarily shut while officers and paramedics attended the scene. It reopened at about 8.30pm.
