PATIENTS at a GP surgery in Barrow are being warned to expect disruption to appointments after building inspectors ordered urgent work must be undertaken in two consulting rooms.
Further inspections of Abbey Road Surgery, in Abbey Road, are expected to get under way next week following a visit to the property yesterday by structural engineers.
Patients are now being advised that some appointments booked for the week ahead will take place at Bridgegate Medical Centre in Winchester Street.
Anyone affected will be contacted directly, Abbey Road Surgery's practice manager, Janet May, said patients will still see their own GP.
Ms May said: "Some of our patients may have to be seen at Bridgegate Medical Centre as we will lose access to two of our consulting rooms.
"Patients will be seen by their own doctor, and we are contacting all of our patients who are directly affected.
"Patients should still contact the surgery on our usual numbers for future appointments or other enquiries."
Doctors at the practice, who include Dr Arun Thimmiah, Dr Megan Wyatt, Dr Jane Watkin and Dr Evan Mitsis, are now said to be looking into a longer-term solution to the problem while repair work is undertaken.
More details will be made available next week once a plan has been finalised.
