ZANY 80s and 90s kids TV presenter and artist Timmy Mallett had an 'utterly brilliant' time on his bike tour of Cumbria - including stops in Barrow and Ulverston.
The TV personality, much-loved for his Wacaday and Mallett's Mallet days, cycled 150 miles from Carlisle to Barrow from Sunday to yesterday.
The famous face set off on his journey covering the length and breadth of the county after watching his team Oxford United beat Carlisle United, in Carlisle on Saturday.
His adventure took in the fells, the Lune Valley, Kirkby Lonsdale, Carnforth Arnside, Grange, Cartmel, Flookburgh, Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, Ulverston and Barrow.
The star enjoyed stopping off at the Laurel and Hardy statue and Conishead Priory in Ulverston, having an Ice Cream at Roy's on the Coast Road and visiting Barrow AFC's Holker Street ground.
Speaking to the Evening Mail today, he said: "It was a fantastic adventure really.
"I’ve been to loads of places in Britain but I’d never been to Barrow. It was on my list."
Mr Mallett loved the Barrow skyline and the people. He said sometimes Barrow is portrayed poorly, but he said: "Barrow does not deserve that. It’s a lovely town and I’m very taken with it."
