A BARROW town centre street was closed yesterday afternoon (21) after a sinkhole appeared in the road.
The sinkhole, around a foot wide, appeared at the junction of Duke Street and Parade Street.
Cumbria Police closed Duke Street from the Abbey Road roundabout to the junction of St Vincent Street, with officers and police cars blocking the road.
The road has now reopened.
The section of Parade Street to the junction with Clifford Street remains closed.
Police urged those nearby to stay behind the closure lines for their safety.
