HOSPITAL porters and receptionists have received special training in how to support bereaved families as part of an award-winning scheme.
The project, launched by the trust in charge of Furness General Hospital last year, aims to ensure everyone coming into contact with those who have recently lost a family member are confident in how to approach them.
It has now received wider acclaim after being granted a learning matters health and care award from Education England North West.
The initiative is now being rolled out further across the hospital and its sister sites.
