A ROAD closure fencing and signage on two bridges over the A591 has been 'severely vandalised'.
Westmorland and Furness Council said they are 'disappointed' with the incident which occurred on Brigsteer and Underbarrow Bridges.
This follows the announcement early this week that bridges will close until further notice as a 'precautionary measure for public safety' due to structural concerns.

It has been reported that teams have had to divert resources to replace the eleven damaged fence panels and are arranging for lifting equipment to remove the concrete barriers and reinstate the closure.
The council added that a further 14 diversion signs also had to be replaced due to damage, with some found in ditches and hedges, and two signs had been turned around causing confusion for drivers and pedestrians.
A spokesperson for Westmorland and Furness Council said: "Cumbria Police have been informed and as a result, will be increasing their patrols in the area.
"We appreciate that these closures, and the diversions, are causing inconvenience for local residents, communities, businesses and road users, however this action has been essential and our statutory duty to ensure your safety.
"Please respect our road closures and follow the vehicle and pedestrian diversions."
