A POWER cut is currently affecting dozens of households in town due to an 'unexpected incident' with the underground cable.

Residents living in the area of Newbarns in Barrow are experiencing a power cut reported today, April 30 at 11.51am.

Ninety-six customers are without supply. It is estimated to be restored at 5.50pm today.

The power cut is currently affecting those living in the following postcodes: LA13 9LL, LA13 9LJ, LA13 9ET, LA13 9ER, LA13 9EP, LA13 9EW, LA13 9EN, LA13 9EL, LA13 9ES, LA13 9LN.

A spokesperson for Electricity North West said: "This power cut has been caused by an unexpected incident with the underground cable that provides electricity to your home or business.

"We didn't know before your electricity went off that this was going to happen but now we know, rest assured we will get your power back on safely and as quickly as possible."

The team is on their way to deal with the issue.
