A MAN who sent a message he knew to be false for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to another has been sentenced.
Luke Woodburn, 27, of Salthouse Road in Barrow, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to an offence of sending a false message by public electronic communication network in Barrow on December 19 last year.
As a result, magistrates at South Cumbria Magistrates Court on April 22 sentenced the defendant to a 12-month community order.
Woodburn is required to complete six months of alcohol treatment under the direction of Recovery Steps, as well as 15 rehabilitation requirement days.
He was also ordered to pay court costs of £85.
