HAVE you ever thought about the possibility of having your dog at your own wedding ceremony? Well now your dreams could come true.

Dapper Dog Weddings is a new business which specialises in providing premium chaperone and dog care services for weddings across predominantly South Cumbria.

Tamsin Rogers and her husband Nigel Oldroyd, from Ambleside, came up with the concept after they launched their award-winning Ambleside Dog Walker business five years ago.

The company was hailed as the ‘Dog Walking Business of the Year’ in 2022 at the Pet Industry Federation Awards.

“The interest has grown and really snowballed over the past five years,” Tamsin said.

“It is such a privilege to be part of couple’s special day and to help make the day perfect for them. It is such a rewarding part of our job.

“We decided we needed to set up a separate company to give it the focus and intention it deserves so people can find what they are looking for.

“There is such a big demand for weddings in the Lake District with so many amazing venues.”

Tamsin and Nigel provide a range of different services – all of which include picking up your dog in the morning and returning them in the evening.

Their Platinum range entails your pet pooch attending the ceremony with the option of them being the ring bearer, Best Dog or Dog of Honour. Tamsin and/or Nigel will also be on hand throughout the day to make sure the dog is calm and content in excitable surroundings.

Alternatively, their Gold service is an option for couples who think their four-legged friend is too excitable to be involved in the actual ceremony.

Instead, they will look after your dog during the day before returning it to you after the ceremony in order to capture some lasting mementos with the dog in your company on the day.

The duo also offer diamond dog sitting services on the day and overnight for guests who may be bringing their dogs to the ceremony. They also offer elopement and micro wedding packages.

Tamsin added: “We insist on meeting the dogs before the big day to have a bonding session with them so we know them well.

“Fees differ because every wedding is unique. As soon as you’ve booked your venue, we say to get in touch with us. We offer premium but affordable services and have a lot of super surprises along the way for our clients.”
