A SHIPYARD worker died of an industrial-related death, an inquest was told.
Colin Burns, from Barrow, died aged 74 on November 15 2021 at St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston.
The dad-of-two spent his working life at BAE Systems and enjoyed travelling and watching sports in later life, an inquest heard.
He had been exposed to asbestos in earlier years which resulted in the diagnosis of mesothelioma in 2018.
Mr Burns was also diagnosed with coronary heart disease and leukaemia in 2014.
Coroner Mr Robert Cohen concluded the death as ‘industrial-related’ and expressed great sympathy and condolences to the family.
