TWO lanes on the M6 were closed for about an hour this morning while crews extinguished a car on fire.
Firefighters from Carlisle East and Brampton fire stations were called at 7.15am to a Volkswagen vehicle, located on the northbound carriageway between junctions 43 and 44.
A spokesman from Carlisle East fire station said: "On attendance, crews discovered one car which was well alight on arrival.
"We extinguished the blaze using one breathing apparatus, one hosereel, and a set of Lucas Edraulic spreaders."
