IT has been a busy week for The Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team with three different callouts and two first aid training sessions.
Considering the team is called out around 30 times in a year, to receive three in one week is quite rare.
Their first call out came early last week, when they were called out by North West Ambulance Service to help transport a casualty from an address in Broughton-in-Furness that was proving difficult for the ambulance to reach.
The female, in her nineties, was found to have an upper leg fracture and was quickly treated and stretchered to the ambulance.
Then, at 4am last Saturday night, the team were called out by Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team to assist with a stretcher carry from just under Kern Knotts on the Styhead tarn path.
The casualty had developed a back problem after a long day on the fells, and could no longer walk.
Lastly, a rather unusual callout on Monday to assist one of their very own team members – only the second time in living memory that this has happened for DFMRT.
