A COUPLE of thousand attics, garages and china cabinets will be searched in the next few days ready for the visit to South Cumbria of the BBC Antiques Roadshow team.
The TV experts will be in Holker Hall on Wednesday, July 6, giving free valuations and filming the best of the items.
To mark the event we have searched through the Evening Mail archives for pictures from the team's first visit to Furness.
The Antiques Roadshow was filmed at Barrow's Park Leisure Centre back in July 1993.
Presenter Hugh Scully was there to meet the crowds, along with experts such as Roy Butler, Eric Knowles, David Battie and Henry Sandon.
A total of 3,000 people brought items along to be valued and some enthusiasts were in the queue from 6am.
Among the star items was a silver figure of King Edward VII on a horse which was worth between £2,000 and £3,000.
John Reed, from Millom, brought in a pole screen designed to keep the heat of the fire off the faces of Georgian and Victorian ladies.
It was estimated at around £400.
A silver card case bought at a car boot sale for £3 turned out to be worth £500 and a model railway locomotive of Princess Elizabeth was valued at up to £2,000.
