SCENIC stately home Brantwood will play host to an evening of poetry and music next week.
The Coniston gallery has its own Writer in Residence, Geraldine Green, who will be reading on the night and joined by South Lakes saxophonist Jess Gillam.
Ulverston-based Geraldine has performed widely in the UK, North America, Italy and Greece, as well as undertaking a research diploma exploring the influence of the land on the poetry of Emily Bronte.
She has had four poetry pamphlet collections published, as well as two full poetry collections, titled The Other Side of the Bridge and Salt Road.
She’s worked with artists and musicians including Arne Richards and Isabel Knowland of the Oxford Concert Party - a digital and visual artists and a photographer.
As an experienced freelance creative writing tutor Geraldine runs regular creative writing courses at a variety of places in the UK, including Brantwood, where she is currently Writer in Residence.
Jess, who also hails from Ulverston, has been awarded several scholarships and awards, including the BBC Walter Todd Bursary for showing exceptional promise on the BBC Young Musician of the Year, and she also picked up Musician of the Year at the Cumbria Culture Awards last year.
She has a busy performance schedule and has made guest appearances with Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, and sax icon Snake Davis, as well as performing as a concerto soloist with the Worthing Symphony Orchestra.
