THE aftermath of Storm Desmond and flooding in Cumbria is continuing to cause major disruption today.
- Electricity North West is continuing to restore power to customers where possible. 2,657 properties in Cumbria remain without power due to 11 separate faults caused by flooding, with floodwater preventing engineers from accessing the sites to carry out repairs.
- North West Ambulance Service reported a rise of 10 per cent in 999 calls on both Saturday and Sunday.
- Police are advising residents in the Glenridding and Glencoyne areas that 557 properties are without telephony. Flooding has damaged phone signal in the area to the extent where properties have no mobile or landline signal, however there are some properties with access to broadband.
A591 dual carriageway at Prizet, Kendal, has reopened following flooding (one lane closure remains in place) , and traffic is now able to travel from Junction 36 of the M6 motorway towards Kendal, Windermere and Ambleside.
A590 is open in both directions. Expect delays. Hazardous conditions between the Meathop roundabout and Brettargh Holt roundabout, and slow traffic in Lindal and Ulverston.
A5074 is just passable between the B5360 junction in Windermere and the Mill Lane junction in Crosthwaite.
A591 in Ambleside is just passable due to flooding.
A591 is just passable between the Stock Lane junction in Grasmere and Back Lane junction in Legburthwaite.
A591 closed between the B5322 Back Lane junction and the Pye Lane junction in Grasmere because of a landslip and flooding.
A6070 at Sandygap Farm at Burton in Kendal is closed.
C5057 at New Road in Burneside is closed due to concerns over the bridge.

On Monday there will be no trains between Carlisle and Glasgow Central/Edinburgh.
Passengers are advised not to travel between Carlisle and Glasgow Central/Edinburgh as no replacement road transport will be available due to unsafe road conditions.
Passengers travelling between Glasgow Central/Edinburgh and Manchester/Manchester Airport can travel on CrossCountry/Virgin Trains East Coast services to Newcastle and York for connections to Manchester / Manchester Airport.
The following lines are open and are returning to a normal timetable:
- Settle to Carlisle
- Carnforth to Settle
- Lancaster Station has reopened
- Workington to Barrow services are operating all stations between Workington and Preston
