CUMBRIA Police have updated on the county's flooding situation following a multi-agency meeting today.

A multi-agency strategic command group meeting was held this morning to assess and discuss the flooding situation in Cumbria overnight.

As forecast, rainfall decreased dramatically through the night and as a result there were no further flooded properties reported around the county.

The main issue is now the roads that have been affected by the adverse weather. The latest situation is as follows:

South Cumbria:

Roads Closed:

Roads open but passable with care due to some surface water flooding:

- A65 Oxenholme - C6011 Park Road - C5058 Carus Green Golf Club - A591 Plumgarth, open but surface water flooding adjacent to filling station - A591 Various locations Eccleriggs , Wrayriggs - A684 Castle Green Near Best Western Castle Green Hotel

West Cumbria:

Superintendent Rob O’Connor said: “It may have stopped raining but people still need to be careful on the roads as there is a lot of surface water. Motorists should plan journeys carefully, allow extra time and avoid roads affected by surface water. I also urge people not to ignore road closures – they are there because travelling across the roads can be extremely dangerous.”
