The M6 northbound in Cumbria has reopened after an earlier closure between J39 and B6261 (Shap) and J40, A66 (Penrith), because of a lorry fire.
Cumbria Police and the fire service were called to the scene at about 6.35pm to find a recovery vehicle on fire. Officers said a number of the cars on the back of the lorry had also been on fire and the driver had escaped without injury.
A police diversion had been in operation via the A6.
