A MAN has been sentenced after being caught in possession of a Class B drug.
Jonathan Thomas, 33, of Sidney Street in Barrow was caught by officers on mobile patrol with two snap bags of cannabis.
Prosecuting the case at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on April 19, Peter Kelly said officers searched the defendant under the powers of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
In mitigation, Andy Gallager said his client had the drugs for personal use only.
He said added the defendant handed over the cannabis straight away to officers and admitted he should not have been in possession.
As a result of his guilty plea at the first opportunity, magistrates ordered Thomas pay a £80 fine for the offence.
Thomas was also ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £32 surcharge.
